Been carrying the new Rat Red for a couple months now. I use pocket knives regularly for whatever I need. They're tools. I don't baby them. I live in Arizona but have been in the far north Alaska for the last two weeks. Back in AZ next week.
The size open and closed is perfect for me. The feel and design are perfect. It's very solid when it's open which I appreciate, no play or loose tolerances, which I appreciate. It's solid. The only downside is the thumbstud deployment mechanism. I'm helping clean out some warehouses here in AK (above arctic circle), among other things. It's constantly going in and out of my pocket. Occasionally wearing thin gloves. I wish I had brought one of my Benchmade autos. Even with the thick studs it's a lot to open and close quickly one-handed over and over again. If this was an auto or had assisted opening it could become my favorite. It's the same for me in AZ. Most often, when I grab my pocket knife I'm in the middle of doing something else I need it open quickly. It's a sweet knife. Happy to have it. When it's open and I'm using it I love it. Quite a lot. Overly even. There's definitely something special about it. But nothing beats an auto or assisted opening knife for me when busy, active, and using it regularly over and over again.
