In boot camp at MCRD Parris Island - and at the start of my active duty Marine Corps enlistment - we trained rather intensely at donning both our MOPP gear and "affixing bayonets" for CQB scenarios. I even still remember the basic "slash, butt-stroke, and thrust" techniques from training with pugil sticks that are meant to mimic using a bayonet as an integral part of the M16A2 service rifle. When I got my most recent 16" carry handle AR - meant to be used as-is with no batteries/scopes/mods/enhancements for when stuff inevitably breaks during real SHTF scenarios - there was a 0% chance that I would leave off its life-saving melee capability by NOT buying and mounting a bayonet for CQB-specific scenarios. I'm 1000% grateful that OKC still makes Marine Corps fighting knives and bayonets - it's everything that I could hope for in tool for a SHTF and survival situations, IMO. I proudly keep it in good shape and within reach. You really can't go wrong, IMO......
