Near perfect

I own 3; my employees often walk away with them for soil sampling (yes they are that tough). The sheath issues are solved if you soak them in oil for a week or so - soft as butter.

It is designed to be loose!

The people complaining about the guard being loose are uninformed! The knife design calls for the guard to be loose (floating), if you tie the knife to a stick to make a makeshift spear, using the holes in the guard, if the guard wasn't floating the chance of the knife breaking from the shock of impact is increased! This is in the mil-spec for production. A great knife!
