The finer serrations on these knives are used for cutting vegetables or any item which has a skin or tough outer layer which needs to be pierced by the points of the serrations before the actual item can be sliced. The unique serrations of these knives have a smaller proportion of “points to curved edges” to allow a smoother cut with less tearing and deformation of the item to be cut. Not recommended for the dishwasher.
