OLD-WORLD STYLE COMES ALONG WITH THE OLD HICKORY HUNTING KNIFE FROM ONTARIO KNIFE COMPANY®
OKC® Brings Classic Old School Artistry and Quality in a Durable,
Multi-Purpose Knife from Old Hickory Line
Ontario Knife Company® (OKC®), the award-winning cutlery maker with over 130 years of experience and heritage, adds a rugged hunting knife design to its revered Old Hickory product line that was first introduced in 1924. The Old Hickory Hunting Knife lives up to the reputation and design that has made these knives favorites for decades.
Like taking a step back in time, the Old Hickory Hunting Knife has the classic, remarkably-crafted hardwood handle that is secured with brass compression rivets. The 5.5-inch blade is constructed of high-carbon steel, which is capable of retaining an edge better than many stainless steel knives and it has a hardness rating of 55-57 HRC. OKC still employs manufacturing techniques used over 90 years ago and integrates them with state-of-the-art practices and facilities.
“If you went into your grandparents’ or even great grandparents’ kitchens, pulled a knife out of the drawer and held it in your hand – that’s what an Old Hickory knife of today looks and feels like,” said Andrew Yates, Vice President of Sales & Marketing. “That knife may even be an Old Hickory blade. We wanted to add a hunting-style blade to a series that is already popular and trusted among outdoorsmen. The Old Hickory Hunting Knife is a perfect all-purpose blade that will last. It’s a classic knife that will last for generations.”
The Old Hickory Hunting Knife is proudly backed by a lifetime warranty and Made in the USA.

Years ago I had an Old Hickory butcher blade in my kitchen. I was moving and wanted to get rid of some items, so I gathered up a few utensils from the kitchen and gave them to my nephew. Months later I realized I had put Old Hickory in the box I had given to him by mistake. I asked him for it back but he didn’t have it. His ex took it when she moved out. So he bought me a really nice carbon blade Russell butcher knife, but oh how I longed for Old Hickory! About a year later, surfing the web, I came across one of your dealers, who stocked Old Hickory hunting knives! I couldn’t believe my eyes, lol. So I ordered two! I own many, many knives, but Old Hickory is right at the top for holding an edge and feeling great in the hand. I stained the handles a darker walnut and honed the edges razor sharp! I use it in my kitchen daily preparing meals and out on the trail. However, I am not too keen on the style or fitting of the sheath though. A better style and fit would be like the ADK High Peaks Hunter sheath. Thank you for allowing me to experience Old Hickory again! Cheers!

I found an Old Hickory butcher knife at a Goodwill store. I didn’t know anything about this knife but I felt the quality of it when I picked it up. There is some rust and it looks to have been abused for a long time. I do not think it has been sharpened for a long time either. I found your website this morning and have read about the history of the company. Truly an american success.
I spent a little time on a wet stone yesterday. I started with a 400 grit and moved to an 1000 after a few strokes. I have one more stone at 3000 to hit today and see how it turns out. I can feel an edge coming back now, but it still needs more help.
Thank you for the history lesson on the company. I’ll be keeping my eye out for more treasures like this.
